Looking Back on Freshman Year

My best memory from my freshman year was playing basketball, going on all of the road trips, staying in the hotels, and waking up the next morning to go play basketball. I think that the most important thing that i have learned from my freshman year is that your friends that you used to be friends with back in middle school will change, and you will make new friends for the better. Some advice that I would give to the upcoming freshman is to not come into high school with a big ego, get your homework done when you get the chance in school, and try as many sports or extra curricular activities that you can.

Just Do It, NikeA lesson that The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman taught me was that no one can hold you back from achieving what you want. Miss Jane started off as a slave and soon became a free woman. Even though Jane was free she had to fight through multiple difficulties to get money and where she wanted to go. Jane going through all of her difficulties and finishing through them is the lesson that no one can hold you back from getting to where you want.

False Stereotyping

Slaves were stereotyped a lot when they were set free by the Emancipation Proclamation. One example of a stereotype is when the “God-fearing Christian”, said that she hated all the black people because they were the ones who stole from her. Her stereotype was wrong because not all of the slaves stole from white people. Jane and Ned were basically getting accused of stealing just because of their race. Jane and Ned decided to work so that they could earn money and food instead of deciding to steal.

Childrens Book Classic

The book that I remember from my childhood is Green Eggs and Ham. The reason that I think I remember that book is because it was funny. If the book wasn't funny I wouldn't have had interest in it therefore I would remember it. Another reason that I think other people remember it, is because they liked the book because it rhymed. But the best reason people I think people remember it is because the book was a Dr. Seuss book and everybody read his book.
