Slaves
were stereotyped a lot when they were set free by the Emancipation Proclamation.
One example of a stereotype is when the “God-fearing Christian”, said that she
hated all the black people because they were the ones who stole from her. Her
stereotype was wrong because not all of the slaves stole from white people.
Jane and Ned were basically getting accused of stealing just because of their
race. Jane and Ned decided to work so that they could earn money and food
instead of deciding to steal.
